CAMPER’S INFORMATION

What to bring to camp or any type of camp out:  

                     The Personal Overnight Camping Gear list can be found in the Boy Scout Handbook will be helpful as you pack.

 We suggest that each item of clothing and towels be labeled with your name and troop number.

When packing some items it works good to place cloths in a zip lock bag. This will insure them to be dry and the bags can be used for other uses. The bags can also be reused after each camp out.

Medication to be in original containers with name, amount to be taken and times. Given to leaders prior to leaving to camp and gone over with needs if any.

 

Must Have:

  • Completed Medical Form with current signature and date. Must have when going to Mitigwa or other council events. The troop will keep a copy and let you know when one need to be refilled out.

 

  • T-shirts (1 per day base on the days gone)

  • Shorts 

  • Socks 

  • Windbreaker jacket

  • Swimming trunks and towel

  • Towels & Washcloth

  • Pajamas

  • Mosquito repellent (non-aerosol)

                       OFF® Active™

  • Sleeping bag or two blankets Troop has Sleeping bags                                                                            

  • Cot   Troop dose have ones the can be used

                      

  • Air mattress or sleeping pad

  • Toilet Kit containing: Soap in container, Toothbrush & toothpaste and Shampoo

  • Scout Uniform including Order of the Arrow Sash (if applicable)

                                             

  • Long pants (2 pair)

  • Underwear (6 pair)

  • Sweatshirt

  • During colder weather Coat, hats and extra gloves

  • Poncho or rain jacket

  • Boots and/or shoes (2 pair) Good ones that fit right. There is lots of walking to be done.

                                                                   

  • Cap with bill or brim

  • Scout Handbook

  • Canteen or water bottle that can be attached to pants or carried on a strap

                                                       

  • Flashlight and batteries

                                           

  • Plate, cup, bowl, and utensils

  • Notebook and pen & pencil

  • Pocket Knife and Totin' Chip

                                                     

  • Sunscreen

  • Comb

  • Money - we recommend $2/day in six daily envelopes with name, troop 40 and day on them. Give to leaders to be handed out. This is used only we the troop goes to Mitigwa summer camp.

Some of the above equipment can be put into a plastic tote box container and this container used in the tent as a table, will keep items clean and dry.

What Not to Bring to Camp or Camp out:

No video games, snack foods and electronics!  Hunting knives, sheath knives, fireworks and personal firearms have no place in camp. Jewelry and other expensive items should also be left at home. Youth campers will not be permitted to carry cellular phones during camp.
